What is healing? Healing is a non intrusive natural “medicine” which releases blocked energy in the body to promote health and well-being. It has been used since time immemorial and is attributed to the “miracles” performed by Jesus and the Buddha. Healing is sometimes called “spiritual” healing, “angel” healing or “reiki” depending on the training that the healer has undergone. The term of faith healing is sometimes used but it is misleading as one does not need to believe in the healing for it to be effective. Most healers are born natural healers and would not need any specific training to be qualified. Although no serious healer would promise any results onto a particular condition, healing can work very well for a wide variety of conditions such as asthma, eczema, irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis and even more threatening conditions such as cancer. It is not a miracle cure but for the most serious cases, it can bring a quality of life which makes a big difference. Long term conditions may take several sessions whereas more recent ones are usually cured quicker. Healing complements traditional medicine very well and one should always as a first port of entry consult a doctor for a condition before seeing a healer. It is not wise either to discontinue a medical treatment and rely on healing only to cure a condition – although very occasionally a healer might point out a medicine that aggravates a condition. It is then up to the patient to decide what she wants to do about it. Healers are not the ones who heal. They merely channel healing energy that the patient is then free to use for her own recovery. There can be no healing if the patient does not want to heal. The best healers are those who do not expect results and who respect their patients’ needs and constitution. For example, a very weak patient might need gentle healing and a gradual improvement of her condition. A healing session usually starts with the patient lying down on a therapy table or sitting upright in a chair. The healer then rests her hands on the patient’s shoulders to attune to her energy. After a few minutes of meditating, the healer then places her hands on the patient in a pre-arranged or random sequence – depending on the needs of the client. Healing might involve light manipulation and touching, although some healers work a few centimetres from the body of their patients (“aurically”). The healer might take the client through a guided meditation, which is really an exercise with your imagination to relax you and make you feel comfortable. Healing might also involve gentle tapping of the body in places. Sensations experienced by patients can be very different, ranging from not experiencing much other than deep relaxation, to seeing bright colours or even sceneries. There can be sensations of cold or hot. After a session, the healer will offer a glass of water. A few minutes of rest is also beneficial as healing can be quite deep. It is best to have some quiet time after a healing session to process what has happened and give oneself some quality time. The benefits of healing can be experienced only after 12 hours or more after the session. What brought me to healing. My GP, who was a trusted friend, suggested that I make an appointment with a shiatsu practitioner to alleviate some of the anguish that this situation put me into. With the help of a shiatsu masseuse, who had been in her time a Zen nun in a Japanese monastery, I attempted to restore my balance and my health. She very quickly directed me to her husband’s capable hands as in her own words; she couldn’t make much progress until my energy level was restored. This was my first encounter with a healer. My progress was very slow but steady and I found myself thanking God for putting me in the path of these lovely and loving people. One thing led to another and I was later directed to a numerologist who was also clairvoyant. On my first appointment with her, she validated my memories of child abuse but immediately conveyed a message of forgiveness towards the perpetrator. I wasn’t interested in my future or fortune but in understanding the challenges that I had taken on in this life to best address them. In the encounters I was going to have with her in the following three years, her advice helped me more than the 8 years I had spent in therapy. Her words came from the soul and she saw through me into mine. Every person was a sacred child of God in her eyes, even the people around me who had hurt me and made my life so difficult. Her advice helped me choose to live at a time when illness brought me face to face with death on three close encounters. I learnt to restore my health by taking control of my life. I had no idea of my healing gifts until, several years later, I met another clairvoyant who suggested I had a great potential to heal and bring harmony into people’s lives and that I could use my own experience to help others. I then decided to dedicate my life to the service of sensitive women and children. |
