From very young, I have wondered where the inspiration for my art came from. It seemed that I would sit in front of a piece of paper or more recently a plank of wood with bits of china... go into creative mode and wake up to the finished product wondering where on earth this came from.
I often said to my friends and family, who admired my work: "I don't know where this comes from, but it's bigger than me".
It is only two years ago, when doing an intensive five day workshop on trance mediumship that the penny dropped. We trained in inspirational speaking, automatic writing, trance and mediumship and I suddenly realised that I had been right all along to believe that what came through me was bigger than me. I had been working with my guides.
Now that sounds very fluffy for an artist but I want you to consider that the biggest artists (not that I put myself in this category) and inventors have often said that inspiration came to them in moments of deep concentration or day dreaming. This is what trance is all about. You get into that creative mode that puts your mind on hold and which lets you tap into a pool of divine inspiration or ideas that can move mountains and change the world.
I believe that all people should be trained in trance mediumship to enhance their creativity, but also their eloquence and inspirational power towards others. Imagine what it would be like to be trained in trance mediumship:
- as a lawyer: you would prepare your cases but when time for court would come, you could then rely on a bigger source of inspiration to say exactly the right word to obtain the best outcome for your client - provided that was also the best outcome for all parties involved.
- as a writer, you could find the words easily and write effortlessly.
- as an artist, you would never be afraid to run out of inspiration and ideas for your art.
- as a receptionist, it would be to greet people in such a way that would make every one's day and inspire.
And the list goes on. I actually cannot think of a profession that would not benefit from it, as we all need some creative thinking or problem solving in our jobs.
"You may think I am a dreamer, but I am not the only one...." to use the words of one of my favourite songs. Dreaming your life - trancing your life - will bring the best for everyone.
