What is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is an ancient art of placement in the house to increase harmony and abundance. It is intimately linked to reiki and healing because the energies in your home can support or compromise your health. Have you ever experienced moving into a new home and seeing your health decline for no reason at all? Or your relationship faltering away suddenly? Energy in your home is very important and it has an enormous impact on your well being and life. Feng Shui is the art of placing things and clearing energy to enable the free flow of energy in your home.
This is essential for children and can be the cause of much of the sleep problems or anxiety in youngsters.
Have a fresh look at your home
Download the attached bagua map here and apply it to your own home. The instructions are printed on the map. Once you have the map, draw your front door and make a plan of your home to see where all areas fit in. Are there any missing areas? Are some areas cluttered and others not? Does that correspond to the areas that are stuck in your life?
Locate your clutter
This is your next step. After you have applied the bagua map to your home, locate where clutter has accumulated and think about which area in your life it has affected. Clutter is any object that you do not use, that reminds you of some unpleasant or painful event, that makes your home look untidy or disorganised or that is unfinished or broken.
What does clutter do to you?
Clutter affects your energy levels. So much so that usually if you have a messy or overcrowded house you often don't find the time or energy to do anything about it. It can also prevent you losing weight. It can make you feel like your life is on hold. It can drain you and confuse you. It stops new things coming into your life. It can make you feel depressed, even if you feel that you hardly notice the mess.
If your wardrobe is full of clothes that you haven't worn for years how do you expect the universe to send you some new stuff?
Get on with decluttering. There are a few easy tips to declutter, as follows:
-
only do twenty minutes at a time or a very small area in your home, otherwise it will feel too overwhelming. There is no point doing a bit here and there because you won't see the change and it will feel discouraging. Start with one room and in that room: a drawer or a small area. I often encourage my clients to start with the hall and their front door. The other day I blitzed through my bathroom and got rid of tons of potions and pots that I was never going to use and it made me feel refreshed. Having a shower in the morning is now making me feel energised. This being said, you might want to get started and do it all in one go. And that's fine too.
-
start by touring your home and making a list of clutter in your home and a plan to tackle it. Identify the areas of your life that are most affected and choose the ones you want to improve first.
-
have a rubbish box, a repair box, a recycling box, a give away box and a box for things you don't know what to do with
-
ask yourself the question: do I really love this thing or do I keep it to please someone else? does it make me feel good to look at it? is it genuinely useful?
