I had all the intentions in the world to paint some blue bell flowers but once I had finished the corollas, all I could see was fairies. They highjacked my painting to my great delight. In the initial picture there was a red spot on NY and the presence of the angels was made apparent to remind people all over the world that the angels were working behind the scene to make this place a better world. The idea came to me as I saw myself symbolically breaking a mirror that was placed between me and others as I was such a people pleaser, and letting my true colours shine through. Dimensions: 41x62 cm Buy Now: Mermerized £300 I love this mosaic that symbolises for me the mysteries of life. The title is a word of my own creation mixing a bit of English and French. "Mere" means mother and "mer" means the Sea and both sound exactly the same and mermerize me. The immensity and mysterious nature of both motherhood and the sea cannot be pierced with the eye only, yet they are beautifully simple. They cannot be understood by the mind. I love the oceans of green and the ripples of the earth that rythm the colour like waves. Again the link between motherhood, womanhood and the sea. Some have seen in the Tor (a famous hill with a chapel dedicated to Archangel Michael at the top) a very intimate part of female anatomy. I prefer to think of it in terms of fertility and abundance. This piece of mosaic has inspired me for years. I have always been fascinated by poppy fields and this is a result of this love for them. The title also makes a play on word with "Puppies" love because I feel my love for poppies is very pure and innocent. It is only when I moved to England that I understood the emotional content of poppies and why they moved me to tears as they are closely associated with WW2 and the veterans who fought for our freedom. Dimensions: 50x60 cm Buy Now: Red Sea £200 This is a mirror with a border made of turtles and lizzards inspired to me by the Aborigene art from Australia. I love their art with all my soul and this is a feeble attempt at expressing the beauty of nature in a style that ressembles theirs. This is an indoor mosaic. Price does not include postage. For a very long time, I pondered on whether to use crystals in mosaics because I felt they were alive and it didn't feel right for me to glue them onto pieces of wood. Then I had an inspiration that crystals could be used to make a energetically healing mosaic and that they would love to be a part of my creations. This mosaic is made of pebbles that I picked on the beach on a sunny day of September plus crystals that I charged with reiki and they are inbedded in grout covered with sand. It was part of the Planet Earth exhibition organised by Opus Mosaics in May 2008 in conjunction with the UNESCO for the Year of the Planet. This is an indoor mosaic. Price does not include postage. Dimensions: 50x60 cm Buy Now: Rose des vents £300 This mosaic is the first round mosaic that I made and it mixes tiles and mirror. La rose des vents means compass card. It is a lot more poetic than in English though as it literally means "the rose of the winds". Since then studying the tarot and Native American traditions has shown me as this piece is also about the four directions, the four seasons, the four ages of men and women, etc. It also symbolises the cycles of life and death and the wheel of fortune. I can also now see that it contains the celtic cross in it too. Everything is linked! It is now exhibited at the Opus Mosaics Gallery in Exeter. This is an indoor mosaic. My partner and I both had marriage breakdowns and had to build our relationship on the ashes of our past ones. This is a very different process from first long term relationships. Yet there is a richness about it that is reflected in this picture. The earth was made with a broken stone garden clock that was a wedding anniversary present and it makes a wonderful fertile soil for the tulips to grow. Dimensions: 51x61 cm Buy Now: St Michael Mount £120 I love St Michael's mount in Cornwall and part of this love grows from the beauty of the setting, part from the fact that there is also a St Michael mount in France. I love the way both speak of the same beauty and have a narrow path that links the island to the main land, almost like a stem to a flower. This is an oil painting on boxed canvas. This naked lady was a little shy at first but on my insistance, she agreed to be depicted in my art. I am grateful to her for this. She asked me to do the little swirls almost to draw the eye from her or at least to take some of the pressure on her being there in the middle. This is an indoor mosaic. I made it as part of an exhibition in 2003 called "Wish you were here" on the theme of seaside holidays. I never thought that red and blue looked so good near one another. The pebbles represent the beaches that are near where I now live - in contrast to the beaches that I have been used to in my childhood which were fine sand beaches - and which I have learnt to love. I like it for its simplicity yet richness of symbolism: the moon is the feminine energy and the star the inspiration. As our relationship came on the back of marriage breakdowns for both of us, the colours that shine from us and our love are beautiful but slightly out of sink.
