Artist statement and profile

As an artist I aim at expressing my emotions and visions with consideration for my viewer. I create art from the soul by combining pieces of broken things to instill a new breath of life into them in a constructive process.

I often need to destroy for the purpose of creation. This is a process I have had to learn with mosaics which I found liberating because my own attitude to life would have been to never break anything. But it is sometimes necessary to do so when something doesn't work for me, like a preconceived idea, or a label. Then it needs breaking up in small pieces and then it can be reused. Every one could use some learning in the art of breaking moulds or images.

Mosaic has also taught me to see the beauty in broken things. And again it parallels with life as so many of us have broken hearts that we hide so well.

Psychologically and spiritually it is important to understand how we are not our ego. The ego is the personality that we have gathered over the years since our childhood through mainly a mirroring process that has integrated what other people think of us as our reality, whether we are conscious of it or not. We are not our ego, we are not our thoughts, we are not our emotions. It is necessary to break that mould to become our true selves. Mosaic can help you do that.
